A free web page for every business in the city! Sound too good to be true? Collins Computer Innovations (CCI), in the spirit of supporting the community of Twentynine Palms, is offering a leg-up to local businesses by helping them promote themselves, and the city, on the Internet.
In 1995, CCI became the first local Internet Service Provider, connecting Morongo Basin residents to the world through its Total Web Access. In 1996, Collins donated a web site to the community--called "Virtual 29"--www.virtual29.com. Designed to showcase our desert community and lifestyle, the site includes a virtual tour of the Oasis of Murals, a calendar of events, business yellow pages, classifieds, local media listings, live radio broadcasts, and information on local organizations and businesses, Joshua Tree National Park, MCAGCC, and the City of Twentynine Palms.
Over the past three years, the Virtual 29 site has received thousands of Internet "hits" from around the globe. Not only are visitors checking out the Twentynine Palms web site before and after their travels here, but newcomers and residents throughout the entire desert area are tuning in to see what's new in our community.
Now ready to expand the "Yellow Pages" area of Virtual 29--and show the world what we have to offer in Twentynine Palms businesses--CCI is offering a free web page for every licensed business in Twentynine Palms. Each customized page can include one or two photos, plus a description of the business, its owner(s), how long the store/business has been in the area or how it got started "in the middle of the desert," what special services are offered for locals or visitors, etc. The idea is to allow Internet "surfers" to explore our city streets with the click of a mouse.
To take advantage of this offer, business owners can bring their photos and write-up to Collins Computer Innovations at 6274 Adobe Road, Twentynine Palms. Ask for Michael Collins, and he'll set up the free business web page. Designed to promote the community in general, these pages are for informational purposes only. For those who wish to offer actual online shopping, "commercial/retail pages" are also available, for a monthly fee, and can be linked to from the free business web page.
